My Growth

MY STORY & EXPERIENCE WITH ANXIETY & OVERWHELM

I have dealt with anxiety, panic attacks, overwhelm and even depression for so much of my life. Even as a young girl, I was "sensitive", "touchy" and "irrational". All these things that I was called and became a part of my identity. All of which set me back further, and emotional control became harder to overcome. After the smallest slight against me, I was expected by others, by MYSELF, to "freak out".

And I did.

I was touchy. I was sensitive. I was irrational. And I did freak out.

As a teenager, my family broke apart and I was left an emotional mess. I was unable to identify my true feelings and emotions which resulted in zero emotional control. I resorted to feeling the way I was expected to feel. I let darkness consume me in the form of depression, anxiety and panic attacks, and extreme overwhelm.

WHAT HELPED

It was yoga :) I discovered the power of yoga when I was 20. Still in my formative years, I filled my brain with as much knowledge as I could. I read spiritual texts, I read about eastern philosophy but what was particularly powerful in my journey to emotional control was learning about the human experience, human frequencies and emotional vibrations. I went into an intensive 8-month yoga teacher training and started teaching before I even completed my studies. Since then I have been teaching, guiding, and forever learning the power of yoga.

WHY I CAN HELP

I acknowledge my darkness, my emotional as part of my past and part of my growth. This is what has given me experience and the knowledge to create a space for others who are dealing with the same panic and overwhelm that I went through. A place where you can learn overcome the consuming emotions and TAKE YOUR POWER BACK.

It wasn't until more recently that I narrowed down my passion to dealing with anxiety and overwhelm. Signs everywhere were staring me in the face - all my friends, yoga students, and friends of friends were asking me how to deal with anxious thoughts, how to navigate through challenging situations calmly, without panic and without losing control of your emotions. I became passionate about sharing what I know from my experience and from all my studies.

Being told that I am a sensitive crybaby by people who have no understanding, is not the way that it is done. It is through warmth, encouragement, and constant effort.

Occupying your thoughts with positive affirmations brings immediate relief from the overwhelm and anxious thoughts.

The power of affirmations is undeniable. It has been proven time and time again, that repetition results in belief.

Are you choosing to repeat negative thought patterns? If you are, it's OKAY! It's normal. Try this YouTube video with

TAKING YOUR POWER BACK

ASANA

YOUR BODY

Our bodies physically take on emotions. Moving through asana (yoga postures) can bring immediate relief and emotional control, but it also helps to release built up emotions and tension from the body.

One of the more challenging but also the most effective methods is through meditation. There are many different meditative techniques that can help - it is just a matter of practicing and experiencing to determine which is the most effective for yourself.

None of this is easy. Emotional control doesn't come quickly. But it is not impossible. I am living proof among so many others.
